ParticipantHi there,
I have members who need to pay for their membership by bank transfer or cheque.
Once they have made payment in this way and emailed me to confirm, can I then send them a registration link to their email address – so they can fill in the registration form and submit in the usual way?
How do I do this for:
A) New members (with no profile yet)
B) Renewing membersMany thanks

ModeratorHi, you could do the following. Allow them to register but don’t approve the account until you receive payment confirmation.
What do you think?

ParticipantOK, how would I send them the link to register if they haven’t yet paid? (isn’t the registration link sent automatically?) Is there a manual way of sending them the link to register? Please let me know what the process could be.
Many thanks

ModeratorHi, what you say above is the correct way of doing things. This is how the plugin membership registration procedure works. It sends a link to the member so they can register once the payment is received. However because you are receiving payment via other means then you have to do things differently.
The method I mentioned above allows the member to register but their account remains pending. So when they pay you by cheque and you confirm the payment, then you change their account to active and they will receive a notice letting them know that their account is active.
This is just one method that I think might work for you.
Let me know if the above method makes sense to you.
Kind regards

ParticipantThanks – as I am new to this plugin, can you please explain the steps I would take to enrol a new member who wants to pay by cheque for example.
This will help me to write up a process for my team.
Many thanks in advance,

ModeratorHi, as I mentioned above my method might not be the best. But at present this plugin does not allow payment by cheques.
First you create two membership levels. Lets say a Free and a Paid membership level. All the members that pay by cheque sign up to the free membership. All of this can be set up in the Join Us page. You add some information on the Join Us page, letting them know what the procedure is including for those who are paying by cheque.
For example, once you receive the payment they will be upgraded to the Premium account. The free account is set to pending.
Those who are paying by PayPal or credit card, can sign up via the Premium button on the Join Us page.
The Paid membership level will have a set period before it expires. It can be as long as you want it to be.
Remember there are other features that can be implemented in the plugin. But you should learn the basics before you go any further.
Do some testing before going live.
The above is simple enough and I think it should work for what you want.
Let me know if you need more help.
Kind regards

ParticipantHi there,
Looking at the documentation – here is what I am proposing to set up:
Membership Level – Professional £60 per year UK or £45 per year for Non UK:
– I have created 2 PayPal buttons but under the same membership level
– I am offering PayPal and Bank Transfer as alternative payment methods.
– Both payment methods would share the same Form Builder ‘Professional Form’.NEW Member Process:
A) Payment via PayPal button (Payment > link to Professional registration form > admin approves account)
B) Payment via Bank Transfer (Link to Professional registration form (form shortcode in page) > account set up > make payment > admin approves account)RENEWING Member Process:
I want members to be able to renew using either payment method:A) Payment via PayPal button (Log in > Payment > link to Professional registration form > admin approves account)
B) Payment via Bank Transfer (Link to Professional registration form (Make payment > admin manually updates member profile for another year > admin approves account)Can this work?
I want members to be able to renew either by PayPal OR Bank Transfer. I assume this is possible? As it is the same membership account being updated?
Please let me know if this makes sense to you as a workflow for my website.
Best,

ParticipantI tried resetting status from pending to active. This is the email which my members receive.
Hi,
Your account has been activated!
You may login to the member area at http://abcd.efg
Your user ID is the portion of your email address before the “@” symbol. You will need to reset your password to gain access to the site.
Please email q@abc.efg if you have any questions.
Thank YouUnfortunately this doesn’t send them their direct login or password as
Email Settings (Bulk Account Activate Notification) does not allow use of email marge tags- only use generic text.Consider this a request for some kind of bulk account notification with merge tags, or a better work-around for importing members – we know they have paid, but WP Membership doesn’t…

Moderator@Rosie Davenport, it might work. I am not too sure until you carry out a test trial. The renewal process for PayPal will work without any issues. However the renewal with Bank Transfer needs to be tested. As I mentioned above at present this plugin does not offer Bank Transfer payment method.
Let me know how you go with a test trial.
Kind regards
