This feature of the Simple Membership Plugin forces the logout of members once they close their browser.
Normally, after a member successfully logs into your site, this login is remembered by the plugin for a few hours. This allows the user to close the browser and come back to it easily. This behavior is user-friendly so this is a common practice for membership type sites.
However, for your site you may want to force the user to logout when the browser is fully closed. When the Logout Member on Browser Close option is enabled, the members of your site will need to enter their login credentials each time they wish to access the protected content.
Forced logout ensures that anyone else using the same computer or device won’t be able to go to the site and view the protected content (using the previous login).
Enabling the ‘Logout Member on Browser Close’ Feature
- Ensure you have the Simple Membership Plugin activated and installed on your WordPress site.
- Click on the Settings menu under WP Membership.
- Click on the Advanced Settings tab.
- You will see an option titled Logout Member on Browser Close. To enable this feature mark the checkbox.
- Click the Save Changes button.
