    Hi !

I am not sure if you can help me with this one.

Sometimes when a member logs out and the logs back in, the attached page is shown instead of the page set up in the redirection plugin.

    login

Usually we have a side menu showing in members area, but for some reason when this page is showing no side menu appears.

This means the member can’t click anywhere to continue in his protected members area.

This is the only page that has this problem, every other page that is protected by simple membership shows the side menu.

It is a protected side menu and it works only with logged in subscribers, every time, but just not on this one page.

Any advice you can give me on how to get it to show up?

    Thanks!

I checked with my server host, they said they have not enable page cache mod in php. So no pages are being cached on the server.

Hi, sometimes pages or posts become corrupted. You might want to recreate the page in question that you are having issues with. See if that helps you. The reason why I am sharing this with you is because you mentioned that it only happens with one page.

    Ok thanks.

But how do I recreate that particular page, it’s generated by your system and its not listed in the page list in wordpress.

Or, is it the Login page with the login form that I should recreate?

    Let me know, thanks 😉

Maybe I misunderstood your question. I am referring to the following comment.

Usually we have a side menu showing in members area, but for some reason when this page is showing no side menu appears.

What page are you talking about in the above comment?

No problem, it’s important to have clarity.

I have listed below the exact steps with links:

    1. Member logs in –

    2. Page redirects to the correct page as set up in
“Simple Membership After Login Redirection” plugin.

    3. Side bar widget menu shows up on the right hand side as per menu settings

    4. Member logs out

    5. Member logs in again

    6. Instead of redirecting to above website, the following content is displayed:
    memberpage

And the link shown in address bar is: http://www.helpinghands.za.org/membership-login/

    7. No side bar widget menu shows up on the right hand side as per menu settings, I have no idea why.

    8. This is the only instance where the side bar menu does not show up – all your other protected pages allow the side bar menu to show up.

If you would like to test it, you can create a membership on our website and log in and out a few times.

    9. I’ve tried it in Firefox Browser and Google Chrome with the same results.

    10. I’m using Windows 7 32 Bit.

    11. I’ve checked with server host, and php mod for page caching is not enabled.

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help you with this one.

    Thanks!

Thank you for providing more information. Do you have a cache plugin installed? If you do, did you set the cache plugin to exclude member registration and login pages? Did you also clear the browser cache when you carried out a test?

You are welcome and thank you so much for your patience and support.

Do you have a cache plugin installed? No.

If you do, did you set the cache plugin to exclude member registration and login pages? N/A

Did you also clear the browser cache when you carried out a test?

Yes, since my last message I tested this. I found this result: that is the only time the page redirection works, is if browser cache is cleared manually and the browser is closed and restarted.

I would appreciate any advice you can give me to prevent clients having to do this every time they logout.

Unfortunately at present this is how the plugin behaves. You might like to add a message for your members to read in regards to re-login in again. This is the only way you can deal with this issue at present. The members should clear their browser cache before attempting to log in again.

Ok, thanks – that is a great solution – how to I add a message that will show up on that output page?

Let me have the link to the tutorial how to do this, thanks again.

Hi, unfortunately there is no tutorial for what you are asking. There are many ways of adding a FAQ page in your site. Or you can redirect all members when they log in to a page with questions and answers.

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks, I appreciate all your help with this.

But I am sure you agree that is not the ideal solution for a member to have to manually clear cache every time theylog out – since you said that is how the plugin operates.

I think you need to really consider about how to fix that in future, since there are many other websites one logs in and out and the logout actually works without having to clear browser cache.

It’s just too cumbersome, many members will be irritated having to do that all the time on our website. I know I would be irritated.

I will create a work around by having to expose the membership protected page links on the menu, but that is really not the ideal situation.

I hope one day you can update your plugin to fix this 😉

All the best and thanks again for your fabulous and speedy support.

This shouldn’t have anything to do with this caching. The after login redirection comes from the following addon (it shouldn’t be affected by caching):
    https://simple-membership-plugin.com/configure-login-redirection-members/

There could be a conflict somewhere which can prevent the after login addon from working correctly.

I did create a test user account to test on your site. Everytime I go to the login page and do the login, it correctly redirects me to the after login page. I created the test account then logged in. Logged out and then went to the login page and then logged in again. The redirection worked for me both the times.
