This documentation is excellent:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/enabling-paypal-ipn-feature-in-your-paypal-account/I highly recommend adding a note about this and link on the “Manage Payment Buttons” and “Create New Button” admin pages.
It would be WAY TOO EASY to gloss over this and not realize to turn IPN on in the PayPal account. (Note it was turned off in my client’s PayPal account.)
