    Hello,

I found a couple posts on the subject but not a solution. Here is my situation:

I started memberships (and paypal) before adding your plugin (one year ago). I used your import wp users after setting up plugin. Now I don’t recall exactly how or what happened, but for the sake of conversation I’ll say that I did the import on 08/04/2015 — I say this because I have a lot of users with an “Access Starts” date of 8/4/2015.

My paypal button is for an annual subscription – reoccurring payment

Looking at my old csv file I have a column for user_registered with all sorts of dates between 7/2/2015 and 7/29/2015. Almost all of them renewed automatically via paypal profile. These are the same users that are now expired (except the ones I have been manually editing or cancelled reoccurring payment)

Taking a cue from another post I will add that I may have not been using IPN or I had IPN issues at time.

Assuming we can fix this for future memberships — can you help me come up with a sql query to get everything up to date? I noticed there is a member_since in addition to a subscription_starts date in the database that is confusing me

    Thanks

Hi, I read through your comment above but I am not sure what the problem is. Are all your members accounts renewing correctly?

You confused me with the following comment.

Almost all of them renewed automatically via paypal profile. These are the same users that are now expired (except the ones I have been manually editing or cancelled reoccurring payment)

Perhaps you can elaborate a bit more what you mean above?

    Thank you

    Hi,

All my members have paid via paypal with annual reoccurring subscription. I have a group of them that were added via your wp member import tool (the first 56 in your membership plugin). I imported them on 8/4/2015. These 56 had paid on dates before 8/4.

For example, 10 of them paid on 7/2/2015. These 10 were automatically charged fee by paypal on 7/2/2016. When 8/4/2016 came around there status was set to expired by plugin.

What I have now is my first group of plugin members (the 56 imports) expiring on 8/4/2016 when payment has already been made via their paypal profiles on various dates in July. I am manually cross-checking these “expired” members with my paypal activity and changing them to Active if renewal is paid, and changing Access Start and Member Since date to original payment date

I’ll have to keep monitoring for the later ones that joined after installing plugin. Make sense?

Hi, thank you for providing the extra needed information. I now understand your problem. As you mentioned at the end of your explanation above, you will have to wait until they make the next payment.

In regards to the following comment.

When 8/4/2016 came around there status was set to expired by plugin.

Did you modify the membership levels and members expiry settings?

I don’t recall modifying those (if I did it would have been a single person and not all 56)

What is the difference between Access Start and Member Since dates? And do any of those change during membership, including after renewalls or should I keep them the same as I manually update all the 8/4 members?

I am just trying to work out if all members are set to expire after 12 months? As per your comment below.

All my members have paid via paypal with annual reoccurring subscription.

So if you look at all your members they should be active and their account should expire 12 months after their last renewal, is that correct?

    In regards to your question.

What is the difference between Access Start and Member Since dates?

Can you let me know where you saw the above mentioned in the plugin?

In regards to the following question.

And do any of those change during membership, including after renewalls or should I keep them the same as I manually update all the 8/4 members?

they can change if their is a delay in the payment or you make any changes to the members account.

You should keep the time frame the same i.e. 12 months if that is what you want your members to pay for. Is that what you mean?

    This is getting ridiculous

All the ones that I manually reset from expired to active and the date from 8/4 to the July paid date are expired again (but retaining the correct date).

Your plugin displays two different date fields as I have named them above

I am not sure what is going on in your site. I think what you can do is enable Debug Mode. Then check the log files after the next transaction. Then report back with the log file information. Remember never post any private and personal data.

I carefully edited and tracked a few expired members that have described issue to make them Active. They went to Expired status the next day (or a few days). There is no entry in the debug log for those members.

    Any ideas

Are these members the ones you created and or made manual changes too?

yes, they paid in July via paypal and native wp membership. I imported them Aug 4 into your plugin using your import utility. They expired Aug 4. I changed the dates to July X and set to Active. They expire again

What period is set up for the membership level they belong to?

1 yr. They paid 7/2015, imported 8/4/2015, renewed via recurring paypal 7/2016 and expired 8/4/2016. And they keep expiring after I adjust the dates and set to Active

What is the difference between Access Start and Member Since dates found in Member’s profile? Do they stay the same for all time?

Hi, I have submitted a message to the plugin developers to investigate further your issue.

    Kind regards

Are you updating the access start date field’s value when you are manually adjusting the profile? The plugin uses the access start date fields value to calculate the expiry date.

So for example if the membership level’s access duration value is set to 60 days then the member will get 60 days from whatever the date value is set in hi “access start” date. If the access start date field’s value is too old (based on his membership level), the plugin will expire his account.

So adjust that field’s value accordingly. Typically the access start date fields value should be set to the day the payment was received.
