I tried to test drive Simple Membership by creating accounts for myself and my husband. I tried multiple usernames and email addresses that we use. For every single one, I received this message:
“WordPress account exists with given user name. But given email doesn’t match.”
Why am I getting this error message — and more importantly, what use is Simple Membership if users can’t create an account for themselves?
Do you have an existing WP User account with the email address that you are using?
We don’t have WP usernames associated with those email addresses, no. I tried four different emails as usernames. I received the error message for every one of them.
Is there no way to have a generic username and password that my clients can use to log in?
Actually, let me back up and explain what I’m trying to accomplish. I’m trying to give my current clients access to a single page of “Client Resources.” I don’t necessarily even want them to have to register. I just want to give them a username and password to access the content.
I’m having the exact same issue. when I try to add a member, I get the ‘WordPress account exists with given user name. But given email doesn’t match’. however, I do get the message that the email address is available when I enter it. the wordpress user and password do match the membership entry that I’m trying to create in this plugin, so I’m stumped.
it simply doesn’t work ..
did you ever get a solution or a response?
