Hello,
I’ve made a few custom adjustments to an existing translation file. How can I ensure these don’t get overridden during a plugin update?
Thank you,
Dave
Hi Dave, which language file have you modified?
Depending on the language you have modified then your best bet is to keep a copy of the po and mo file. Once you update the plugin again then replace those files in the plugin language folder.
Hi MBR,
Thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate it. I’ve modified the Dutch language file (nl_NL).
OK, I can do what you suggest. My only concern is that it’s a site I’m handing over to a client and ideally would like them to run it themselves without my help for plugin updates. Is it possible to have the language files in a global folder instead of the plugin folder? That way they wouldn’t get overridden during an update. WooCommerce allow this for example (see Making your translation upgrade safe).
Thanks again,
Dave
Hi Dave, yes you can have the Dutch language globally added. Click on the following URL.
