    Hi,

How to alert members about expired membership?

I can’t find any way to do that.

And I think it’s required for this plug-in.

    Thanks

Hi currently there is no option in the plugin to alert users of their expired account.

There is a Membership Renewal Button you can create for expired members. This in a way lets your members know their account has expired and they can subscribe again if they choose to.

But how do they know when their accounts is expired?

Regular users won’t understand what happened withtout any alert.

The member renewal button will allow them to renew their account again. Did you read the documentation in the link I provided above?

The renewal button is a little pointless unless a person is prompted to renew. For example when running a directory of members their listing may run for a year and auto renew each year. If you set it to expire then they need to know or their profile maybe offline? If you set it to auto renew then they should be notified payment will be taken X days? Is this possible at all?

hi, there is no such feature in the plugin.
    HOWEVER, there is a way:
you’ll need a paid mailchimp account (a pay as you go plan is just fine) and the SMP Mailchimp plugin.
Everytime a user subscribes to your membership, he is added to a mailchimp list.
Just program an automated email to be sent a few days before their membership renewals. Mailchimp can do that just fine.
Of course, you may need different lists for different membership durations.

If you don’t want to pay, you can use Mailpoet and program an autoresponder message to be sent to the list “WordPress users” a few days before renewal. I believe it’s possible although I didn’t try this one.
The downside of this solution is that you can use it only if all your memberships have the same duration.

That works for NEW members but not after the first RENEWAL. I do not believe Mailchimp is provided an “updated” start date. If fact I don’t think MailChimp is provided any data since the email address is not new.

Also, after a membership renewal payment, the member should gets a link to complete registration and the registration data should be automatically filled in from the database (including custom form fields).
