I would like to set my site up so that all members get the first 3 months membership free, which they would then need to upgrade to a monthly subscription. Is there anyway to do this at all?
You can do this in two different ways:
1) Use a subscription button with a 3 month trial period. So the first 3 months of the membership will be free then it will start charging.

Members will first signup to this level and enjoy the free 3 months of membership. Then when their account expire, they can pay for the “paid membership” level that cost them money.
