When I first implemented Simple Membership, I had each level assign the default WP role of Subscriber. I’d now like to change my members to a default custom WP role like Member.
Here’s how I think I would do it
1. Create a duplicate set of membership levels except the new set would have the default role as Member
2. Next I’d do a bulk update of my existing members from the current “subscriber” level to the corresponding “Member” level
3. Then delete the original “subscriber” levels.
Would this work or is there a better or easier solution?
Just afraid there’s some gotchas out there waiting for me to fall into <grin>
Thanks!
You cannot assign custom WP roles to members. Please see:
