    Simple Membership WordPress Plugin is excellent but as an Administrator I cannot access a page restricted to registered members. Does the Administrator have to register as well? But when I register as an Administrator I can no longer edit a page restricted to registered members. How do I solve this?

    Yes, the WordPress administrator must have an SWPM account. SWPM Member and WordPress User accounts are two separate entities. SWPM Member accounts grant access to protected content. WordPress User accounts grant access to regular WordPress activities, such as allowing access to the SWPM dashboard.

    If a WordPress administrator wants to view protected content; they must have an SWPM Member account that has been granted access to particular protected pages. You might have a “Free admin” membership account to test how Free memberships see the site; a “Silver Admin” membership account to see how Silver memberships see the site; and so on. Or you might have a single “God Admin” membership to see all site content. This choice is up to you.

    I came across the problem. If I try and log in pn a fake account I created, it wants to log me out of my main editing facility.

    My work around is to remove the protection status on the pages I want to work on while editing, then reinstate them when I’m done.

    Bit of a faff, but it works for me.

    I have encountered the same problem. I have created my membership with my email and a password, but when I try to look at the protected pages, it comes up with an error and won’t let me proceed without logging out of WordPress admin.

    Can this issue please be looked into to make it so that admin access of wordpress automatically enables the admin to see the protected content?

    @MegD —

    1. What you must do is create an SWPM membership account for yourself. If you only have one membership level, assign it to that level. If you have multiple membership levels, create a new level called “Everything” or something similar, and assign your SWPM account to that. For this example, I used “Everything” because I don’t want to confuse you by calling it “Admin” because WHATEVER NAME YOU PICK DOES NOT MATTER.

    2. For every protected page, ensure that YOUR membership level is also given access.

    3. Whenever you want to see any of the protected content, you must log into whatever SWPM account you assigned to yourself

    4. Yes, you can setup a mechanism to auto-login to both WP and SWPM, but this is the simplest way to get you started; because it may be more complicated for me to help you undo what you have already tried.
