Is there way to instead of just having a message appear when a user does not have access, to actually redirect them to a specific page?
You canuse “Auto Redirect Non Logged-in Users (Protect Whole Site)” protection.

Thanks, is there a method of redirecting logged-out users who purchase a membership (before creating an account) to a specific page? Currently they are directed to a generic login message, instead I’d like to send them to a page and tell them to check their email for a link to create an account. Thoughts?

Using the method I previously described; you can redirect to a page that tells them their options… login with an existing membership, purchase a new membership, or check their email for an activation link.
