How does a website’s Admin get access to a page protected by Simple Membership plugin? Are they forced to create a user login at the appropriate permission level?

I’m also trying to figure out how to allow members to have more than one level of access. Our site only has free memberships but we are trying to separate content between different user groups…even though a few users need to have access to multiple groups. Not yet seeing a way to do this other than asking those users to create multiple logins.

When it comes to the actual “job” of SWPM, the WordPress admin is “just another member.” Just create a special admin membership level, and make sure it has access to every page & post. Then assign yourself and any assistants to that special level.

SWPM does not support 1:N member to membership levels. It is strictly a 1:1 member to membership level system. If you require 1:N memberships, please consider our more advanced WP eMember product:

I’ve tried your suggestion of creating an ADMIN level membership and assigning it to every page, but I’m having an issue taking my WP admin user and assigning it to the new SWPM membership. Do I need to create a new SWPM user account for me as the WP site admin? That seems redundant, but my WP site user name does not appear in the SWPM list of users so I’m guessing that means SWPM is not recognizing my account. When I try to create a SWPM user account (at the new Admin level) with the same login name as my WP site admin, I must make sure that the email address is the same (but SWPM checks case-sensitive text…annoying!) and then get an error saying the email address belongs to an admin user and cannot be used to register a new account for security reasons.

Apologies for these “rookie” questions, but I’m a self-taught admin on my site and frequently need some extra guidance. 🙂

(I like what I see with your advanced WP eMember product, but I just launched SWPM on my site and do not want to make yet another change to my users so soon….maybe next year!)

That is correct; WordPress USERS are separate entities from SWPM MEMBERS. It is possible for a site to have only one WordPress admin USER, and several hundred SWPM MEMBERS.

If you have several existing WordPress USER accounts; for which you want to create corresponding SWPM MEMBER accounts, there is an available addon for this:
