ParticipantI recently started having an issue when manually updating a member’s membership level. After changing the membership level and clicking “Save”, I receive the following message: “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
However, if I click “Back” and then try hitting “Save” again, it works.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

ModeratorHi,
I recently started having an issue when manually updating a member’s membership level.
Are you trying to change a membership level for paid or free membership accounts?
We also have the following instructions for updating and or changing a membership level.
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/manual-button-to-allow-updating-changing-membership-level/
Let me know how you go.
Thank you.

ParticipantNo, it’s a free membership to another free membership. I’ve created a new membership level and am manually moving people to it. I did follow the instructions but I don’t understand why I would get a critical WordPress error doing this. I can confirm that I have updated my WordPress and the Simple Membership plugin.
Any ideas? Thanks!

ParticipantTo explain my issue better, I’ve included some screenshots and have documented the situation in which I am receiving this error.
1. In the WP Member listing, click “Edit” on a member.
2. Acknowledge that the membership level is set to Active 2022.(see: https://ibb.co/j52CfW4)
3. Click drop down menu to open membership levels and select Active 2023. (see: https://ibb.co/sg8N24y)
4. Confirm the membership level is set to Active 2023. (see: https://ibb.co/3cLf5m0)
5. Click Save Data. (see: https://ibb.co/G90jrSr)
6. Recieve this error. (see: https://ibb.co/1QM8nC6)I can confirm that the WordPress site functions when this error is received.
When I click back in my browser, then click on the Member listing and view the member I was attempting to edit, I can see that the change has been made.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can provide any further details. Thank you!!

ModeratorThe message is generated by WordPress, when a fatal PHP error on the site. It occurs when a PHP script stops running and is unable to complete its process. Whoever the admin is for your WordPress site, is supposed to have revived an email from the WordPress system, with more details. So… what does the email say??
