    Hi Folks.
This is a great plugin. But of course the organization using it wants to do something just a little differently. I read about bulk content protection, category protection, and Partial or Section protection. I thought that last one would meet my needs.

The non-profit organization would like to protect all the content within one subdirectory of the wordpress installation. Is that possible to do with Simple Membership Plugin?

Might there be an add-on like there is for partial protection?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The non-profit organization would like to protect all the content within one subdirectory of the wordpress installation. Is that possible to do with Simple Membership Plugin?

Can you provide an example of what you are trying to achieve?

    Regards

    Yes, an example:
The website is a genealogy non-profit offering access to a genealogy database through membership.
The website is at mydomain.com and the genealogy DB is at mydomain.com/tng/index.php

I’d like to make the tng subdirectory protected and only viewable by members.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks!

Thank you for providing an explanation. So far can you tell me how have you set up the plugin? What kind of membership levels have you created so far?

    Regards

You are confusing server functionality with that of the SWPM, WordPress plugin.

    1. The manner in which your server is configured, controls access to specific directories on the filesystem.

    2. WordPress is an application that runs on the server. Its functionality is to show users content, that is stored in the WordPress database. WordPress has no control over the how the server is configured.

    3. SWPM is an addon for WordPress. The purpose of SWPM is to control access to content stored within the WordPress database, based on “membership levels.”

    4. SWPM cannot control access to server directories, because the content of such directories is not under the direct control of WordPress.

Thank you mbrsolution and The Assurer.

I have created two membership levels: Lifetime and Annual.
Members receive access to a genealogy database – which is installed via separate software and shares the DB with WordPress DB. All the files which allow members to search and access the Genealogy DB (GDB) are inside a folder named ‘tng’ which is in the root folder where WP site is installed.

Both the WP install and the GDB (in the tng folder) use the same database. But the pages that are created and live inside the folder /tng/ are not accessible in the PAGES area of the WP Dashboard,

What is the way to protect this content which is part of the WP database content?

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Mary, thank you for providing more information about your set up.

In that case what @The Assurer mentions above applies. Our plugin does not control or protect folders. You will have to use a third party plugin or software to protect the folder in question.

    Kind regards
