    Hello,

I’ve got a couple of strange redirection issues that appear to have all of sudden started on my website.

We did have the login redirect script active – with a view that when we link to a page externally, we wanted to get the member to sign in and then see the content – that’s no longer working… The member logs in – and is directed back to the homepage, which then means they have to navigate manually to where they should have been.

No. 2 – we have an address specified of where members should be directed after they’ve logged in – but actually they end up looking at a summary page – which again means they have to manually navigate to where they wanted to go. Or in some browsers they are redirected to the homepage for them to have to login again.

This all seems rather annoying, as it means extra clicks – and I’m not even sure where to start looking to fix it.

    Regards,

    Michael

SWPM is “browser agnostic,” as is almost all of WordPress. Are you using any kind of page caching on your site; either as a WordPress plugin or server module?

No, I turned off caching as I found it was causing more issues than it was solving. My server is not caching either.

I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of this annoying buy – it really is frustrating that members now have to manually navigate everywhere themselves…

I’ve noticed that the links look weird when the site tries to redirect you, for example:

    https://ado16.info/membership-login?swpm_redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fado16.info%2Fbrochures

    Do these look right?

Could really do with a hand on this one…

    Michael

    Ok,

So I’ve deactivated every plugin tonight – still no joy. I deleted the redirect after login script – reinstalled… still not working…

Now generates this error when you try to save.

    error message

It’s a real shame that this has stopped working – and I don’t even know when it stopped working 🙁

    Michael

Please try deleting and reinstalling SWPM. All of your settings should be preserved.

    Anymore help or suggestions here?

I really don’t know what to do to rectify this?

A few days ago, you posted a screenshot with some PHP errors. Please download the latest update, and let us know if there is any change.

The PHP errors are no longer present.

The site still doesn’t direct to where it should.

So, this is starting to really irritate our members as well as me.

The logging in and redirecting is just not working as it should.

Despite previous comments, different browsers react differently:

Safari – redirects the user back to site homepage. They then have to navigate back to where they started out.

Firefox – displays a member summary which then allows them to click members home to go to the web page.

Google Chrome – as per Safari.

Internet Explorer – as per Safari.

This is a shocking journey, and having disabled everything except the SWPM “stuff” the fault was still present.

Nothing has changed server side, and we’ve had SSL active on the site since May, all with no issues until recently.

As an organisation we have purchased a number of add-one for SWPM, and do not want to loose this money, in turn we don’t want to loose members either.

    Can someone please help us??

    Regards,

    Michael

So I’ve done a bit more looking into this tonight… I’ve turned on the debug files. In Safari this is returned:

[08/08/2018 6:35 PM] – SUCCESS: Authentication request – Username: xxx
[08/08/2018 6:35 PM] – SUCCESS: Authentication successful for username: xxx. Executing swpm_login action hook.
[08/08/2018 6:35 PM] – SUCCESS: Trying wp_signon() with username: xxx
[08/08/2018 6:35 PM] – SUCCESS: wp_authenticate action. User with username: xxx is already logged in.

In Chrome/Google the following lines are created:

[08/08/2018 6:31 PM] – SUCCESS: Authentication request – Username: xxx
[08/08/2018 6:31 PM] – SUCCESS: Authentication successful for username: xxx. Executing swpm_login action hook.
[08/08/2018 6:31 PM] – SUCCESS: static function swpm_login(). User is logged in. WP Username: xxx

I have also set up a sub domain, and done another fresh wordpress installation as well as SWPM and redirect script – which is using the default wordpress theme, and no SSL (at the moment). The script appears to work OK this new installation.

I’ll try and role the site theme back to the default wordpress one – but am worried that I’ll lose things.

    Regards,

    Michael

Ok, so I think after many hours I’ve finally fixed the issue.

You cannot use miniOrange (two form factor authentication) with Simple Membership Plugin.

If you do, you’ll get thrown to wherever the Plugin’s feel like it.

Are there any two form factor plugin’s that do work with SWMP?

    Regards,

    Michael

    As of yet, no.
